This session introduces a showcase of some of the exciting research opportunities taking place in UCSB PSTAT for graduate students and student project opportunities. It is a chance to see research directions and get a short introduction to some topics that are currently in focus with colleagues in the PSTAT department. This should be valuable when selecting PhD supervision panels or thinking about collaborative research opportunities
Ruimeng Hu is an assistant professor jointly appointed by the Department of Mathematics, and Department of Applied Probability and Statistics, at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Her research includes machine learning, financial mathematics, mean-field games, and stochastic partial differential equations. Her research is currently supported by the Simons Foundation. She has submitted and published 30+ papers in top journals including Mathematical Finance, Notices of AMS, ICML, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, SIAM Journal on Financial Mathematics, and SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis.
